For those of you unfamiliar with the world of guitars, reissues models are big business. Models from certain time periods are held in high regard for their superior sound and playability. Manufacturers like Fender and Gibson try to take advantage of this by producing new guitars that use methods and materials from those time periods and call them reissues.
Gibson True Historic 1959 Les Paul. Yours for only $8,599.
Fender American Vintage ‘65 Stratocaster. $2,299.
What I’ve been thinking about is what if car and truck manufacturers were able to do this. Obviously this isn’t feasible in the real world as the cost would be astronomical and many methods and materials from the past aren’t practical or even legal anymore, but let’s suspend that and daydream a bit.
Which model(s) would you want to see brought back as a “reissue”?

Easy, the 92-96 Camry/ES300. Best car ever made. Only this time, they need to also offer a 4-clyinder version of the ES, and the 1MZ with a manual too.
The 92-95 Civic is also a good candidate.
Basically any Japanese car from the 90s is a good choice.

1969 Camaro Z/28. Bonus points if I can get it with the Trans Am race package.

Any 1st gen S10/Sonoma, and the Syclone in particular. Though I would like SOME changes. Eg. I’d like an extended cab Syclone.
Aaaand display name changed to make it the obvious choice next time you ask.

Pretty sure at this point more 1969 Camaros exist than General Motors ever built.

Z/28s.
Plenty of ‘69 Camaros didn’t make it.

Suzuki Samurai. I know you can still get the Jimny overseas and I’d be ok with that too. I want an honest to goodness small fuel efficient true 4X4.
Second choice would be the Hachiroku

There are enough Japanese cars from the 90’s, and they won’t die no matter how hard you want to kill them, so what’s the point?
to each their own

I can’t think of a car I’d like to see Reissued, but I’d love to see some Engines being made again.
Like the BMW S85 and S70, Bosworth BDA and BDT, 2JZ...

So... you want a Jeep Renegade?

Last I heard they didn’t move too many of them since A) the price was high and B) there were title and VIN issues.
$ 62,485.00 was a quote from 2010 with a 383/5 speed.

Depends on the price. A brand new ‘69 Charger, ‘77 911S, KPGC110 Skyline etc would likely cost quite a lot and I don’t want or cant use too much money for a new car. So I guess I would buy some fun microcar. They can’t be very expensive as they were designed to be cheaper than any real car.

Nah not a real 4x4. More of a FWD based compact with a pretty decent AWD system.
I’m talking solid axles, selectable transfer case, RWD based body on frame 4x4

Nissan sorta did it with the R34 GTR Z-tune. They bought low milage models and redid them. So less of a reissue and more of a restomod.

E30 for sure. Not only would I love to experience a new one, BMW would make so much money

Depending on how broad your definition of ‘reissue’ is, some of them already do this...
Here’s China’s Volvo XC Classic, i.e. the outgoing XC90, now that Swedish production is over:
And here’s Mexico’s Volkswagen Clásico, a facelifted MkIV Jetta:
As to which reissue I would buy, I have the originals of both of these already...guess I have a sixth sense for this sort of thing hehe

I had to take out the dictionary for that one. Never heard of Boor or Lout. But both are not that great by the looks of it.

Interesting question as a (fellow?) guitarist...
Jaguar sort-of, almost did something like this with their completion of the E-Type lightweights .
However, personally I would love to get my hands on a new RS200!

Since it’s still a popular choice in grassroots motorsport, and has a growing following all over the world: The Volvo 240.
Just with modern, fuel efficient engines, and possibly all the new light tech that’s out there. Without looking silly, of course. The 242 and the wagon would probably be the most popular.

I want an Isetta. Another cool one would be a brand new AW11 (since all the ones I ever see are trashed). Assorted cars never imported to the US being reissued here would also be pretty cool, eg 22B, older GTRs, etc.
